The third edition of the international photography contest “Barcelos on the Camino de Santiago” is now open, organised by the Albergue Cidade de Barcelos with the support of the Municipality of Barcelos. The initiative aims to highlight the municipality’s role in the Portuguese Camino de Santiago, encouraging civic participation and the appreciation of jacobean heritage.
The contest is open to all citizens, both national and international, who are at least 16 years old as of 1 January 2025. Photographs must be taken within the municipality of Barcelos and relate to the proposed theme, which includes the Camino route, the pilgrims, as well as the expressions of hospitality associated with the pilgrimage.
Each participant may submit up to three photographs. The first submission phase is open until 31 July 2025. Entries will be evaluated by a specialised jury, and the selected works will be featured in a public exhibition. The contest seeks to promote photography as a way of connecting with the Camino de Santiago and to strengthen the cultural identity of Barcelos within the jacobean context.
