Photography exhibition and contest highlight the Camino in Barcelos
On October 11, Barcelos inaugurated the 3rd edition of “Barcelos on the Camino de Santiago”, an initiative that combines a photography exhibition and an international contest at the Tourist Office. The exhibition runs until November 16 and features a selection of images capturing the passage of pilgrims and the cultural and spiritual significance of the Camino in the municipality.
The initiative is organised by ACB – Albergue Cidade de Barcelos Association, with the support of the Municipality, and aims to foster artistic and civic participation around the Camino de Santiago. It focuses on themes such as pilgrimage, Jacobean hospitality and local identity, while also promoting Barcelos within the Jacobean route and strengthening the community’s connection to this cultural and spiritual heritage.
The prizes were awarded through two separate votes: one by the jury and another by the public via social media. The jury awarded Silvana Ferreira 1st and 3rd prizes (“Uma pausa de Fé no Caminho” and “Sob o Cruzeiro do Galo, o Peregrino Renasce”) and Wilson Silva the 2nd prize (“A luz da Esperança”). In the public vote, the 1st prize went to Idalina Casal (“Peregrinos ‘presos’ na Pedra Furada”), the 2nd to Silvana Ferreira (“Passos Silenciosos Rumo ao Sagrado”) and the 3rd to Manuel Peixoto (“Caminhos opostos, diferentes caminhos”).
