Guimarães promotes the Torres Route in Santiago
Guimarães will highlight the Torres Route in Santiago de Compostela on October 12 and 13, as part of the National Pilgrim Day celebrations. The initiative aims to increase the visibility of the stages that cross the municipality and establish the city as a key stop for pilgrims travelling along the route between Salamanca and the Santiago Cathedral.
The activities planned in Santiago de Compostela will begin on October 12 with a promotional action in the Praza do Obradoiro (Obradoiro Square), next to the cathedral. Direct contact with pilgrims and visitors will include the distribution of gifts and information, aiming to spark interest in the route that passes through Guimarães.
On October 13, at 11:30 a.m. (local time), the Interactive Tourism Shop of the Porto and North Tourism Regional Board will host the public presentation of the Torres Route promotion strategy to the Spanish press, tour operators and the general public. The programme includes the screening of a film highlighting the municipality’s historical, cultural and gastronomic heritage and the presentation of a map featuring key points of interest, encouraging longer stays. There will also be a tasting of local wines and traditional sweets. In the afternoon, another promotional action will take place in the Praza do Obradoiro, further strengthening Guimarães’ presence in Santiago.
