Faculty of Theology dedicates Summer School to the Camino and pilgrimage

The Faculty of Theology of the Portuguese Catholic University will hold the “Habitar o caminho – espiritualidade e cultura” (“Inhabiting the Camino – spirituality and culture”) Summer School between June 8 and 29, a course on pilgrimage, spirituality, and the Camino de Santiago. The program includes four sessions on religious traditions, religious tourism, travel literature, and territory.

The sessions will address pilgrimage as a practice linked to the construction of religious traditions and the way it continues to intersect with religion, culture, and social life. The course also proposes a reflection on the relationship between the physical route and inner experience, bringing religious pilgrimage closer to contemporary trails through themes linked to theology, religious history, and bodily experience.

The course is organized by Instituto Religare (Religare Institute) of the Faculty of Theology and has the scientific support of the Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa (Center for the Study of Religious History – CEHR) and the Centro de Investigação em Teologia e Estudos de Religião (Research Center for Theology and Religious Studies – CITER). Sessions take place on Mondays, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Registration is open until May 31 and can be completed here.
