The Central Portugal Tourism Board will present the new Guide to the Camino de Santiago in Central Portugal at the 6th edition of Fairway – Forum of the Camino de Santiago, taking place from November 9 to 11, at the City of Culture, in Santiago de Compostela. Organized by the Xunta de Galicia and the Provincial Council of A Coruña, the event is the only international forum entirely dedicated to the Camino de Santiago and brings together destinations and brands from around the world connected to this ancient pilgrimage route.
The Portuguese participation takes place through a joint space that brings together the four national entities responsible for the certified Camino routes: the Central Portugal Tourism Board, the Porto and North Tourism Board, the Alentejo and Ribatejo Tourism Board, and the Portuguese Federation of the Camino de Santiago, under the coordination of the Tourism of Portugal.
The new guide, to be publicly presented on November 11, brings together the seven routes that cross the central region of the country: the Central Route and the Portuguese Interior Route, both certified, as well as the Torres Route, the Eastern Portugal Route, the Maritime Route, the Western Route, and the Star Route, currently under development and certification. The guide combines history, spirituality, and practical information, including maps, altitude profiles, curiosities, tourist attractions, and QR codes to download the routes.
The programme of the Central Portugal Tourism Board also includes the official opening of the fair on November 9 at 12 p.m., and the presentation of the Portuguese Camino routes on November 10 by the Tourism of Portugal. Over the three days, visitors will be able to discover the region’s tourist offer, watch institutional videos, and enjoy tastings of regional products.
According to Rui Ventura, president of the Central Portugal Tourism Board, this presence in Compostela strengthens the region’s role within the international network of Camino routes and contributes to the joint promotion of religious and spiritual tourism in Portugal and Spain.
