ACC promotes volunteer program on the Camino de Santiago

The Acogida Cristiana en el Camino (Christian Hospitality on the Camino – ACC) promotes a volunteer program linked to the Camino de Santiago, aimed at people who have already completed the pilgrimage and wish to support other pilgrims, either in albergues along the Camino or at the Oficina del Peregrino of the Cathedral of Santiago.

The ACC is a foundation linked to the Catholic Church that coordinates Christian hospitality in several albergues of the Camino de Santiago and also integrates volunteers into the service of the Oficina del Peregrino. The program is open to participants of any nationality, with voluntariness and knowledge of the Jacobean reality as the only requirements.

In the albergues, volunteers receive pilgrims, assign beds, explain how the spaces operate, and provide support according to needs, with duties adjusted to the capacity of each location. At the Oficina del Peregrino, they assist pilgrims directly by stamping the Cathedral seal on credentials, filling out the Compostela, and providing information, including on Mass and prayer schedules.

The volunteer program runs in fifteen-day periods, with defined arrival and departure dates, and travel arranged by the volunteers themselves. The ACC provides accommodation for volunteers placed in albergues. For those working at the Oficina del Peregrino, the Cathedral offers accommodation at the “Hogar del voluntario San Lázaro”.

Applications must be submitted by email to info@acogidacristianaenelcamino.es, indicating the preferred volunteer location and available fortnight, and must include a résumé with languages spoken and a recent photograph. More information is available at: www.acogidacristianaenelcamino.es
