Póvoa de Varzim gets Pilgrim Assistance Office

The Póvoa de Varzim City Council and Parish Council will open a new Pilgrim Assistance Office, managed by the Parish, to improve conditions for those traveling along the Coastal Route, now used by more than 89,000 pilgrims each year.

The installation of the office results from a loan-for-use agreement formalized last May 18 by the president of the City Council, Andrea Silva, and the president of the Parish Council, Ricardo Silva, establishing the free use of the space for the new facility.

The office will be located at the Esplanada do Carvalhido, on Avenida dos Banhos, where the Tourism Office previously operated. It is expected to function as a reception, information and assistance hub for pilgrims passing through Póvoa de Varzim, while also promoting the city through activities related to the Caminos de Santiago and the sale of local products.
