Portuguese Federation of the Camino de Santiago launches volunteer project
he Portuguese Federation of the Camino de Santiago promotes, under the Quality Label of the European Solidarity Corps, the volunteer project “New Footsteps on the Camino”, dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the Caminos. The initiative is aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old and involves direct participation in field activities and work with local communities.
The project includes individual and team-based volunteering, with different goals and tasks, such as cleaning and maintenance of routes, replanting, signage, and environmental awareness activities. At the time of registration, it’s possible to choose from six different periods and, from January onward, 100-day series for individual volunteering and 15-day series for team volunteering are available.
In addition to fieldwork, the project also includes hands-on sessions, workshops and awareness campaigns. These initiatives aim to strengthen the connection between participants, territories, and local communities, with the goal of engaging younger people in activities related to environmental sustainability and cultural heritage.
The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Youth National Agency / European Solidarity Corps. More information is available on the Federation’s website and via email at geral@fpcsantiago.pt. Applications here.
