Grijó and Póvoa de Lanhoso announce pilgrim gatherings

The Confraria de Santiago of the Parish of S. Salvador de Grijó will hold, on September 26, the 6th Conference (2nd International) “Sinais do Caminho” (Signs of the Camino), in the Chapter Room of the Monastery of S. Salvador de Grijó. In Póvoa de Lanhoso, in Braga district, the Municipal Council announced a “Conversa de Peregrinos” (Pilgrims’ Conversation) at the Maria da Fonte Interpretive Center, set for October 16.

In Grijó, the conference begins at 2:00 p.m., with visits to the monastery and the pilgrim albergue, and the opening of a photographic exhibition by Ivo Pinto on the French Route. Among the speakers are Paulo Almeida Fernandes, from the Museum of Lisboa, and Benedict Buono, from the University of Compostela. The closing session falls to Francisco Silva, the conference’s Commissioner, followed by a Pilgrim’s Mass.

The “Conversa de Peregrinos” in Póvoa de Lanhoso comes ahead of the Holy Jacobean Year in 2027, and is a space for debate on the pilgrimage routes to Santiago, Fátima and São Bento da Porta Aberta. It is also part of the municipal plan to promote the León de Rosmithal Route.
