Book “Vamos a Santiago” presented in Ponte de Lima
The Municipal Library of Ponte de Lima will host, on May 23 at 3:00 p.m., the presentation of the book “Vamos a Santiago” (“Going to Santiago”), by Luís Ferreira, in a free-admission initiative promoted by the Municipality. The session will include the presence of the writer and aims to provide a moment of social gathering, conversation, and the promotion of a love of reading.
Published by Ego Editora and illustrated by Tiago Leal, “Vamos a Santiago” marks Luís Ferreira’s debut in children’s literature, although it is intended for readers of all ages. It follows a family along the Portuguese Camino and addresses themes such as discovery, the values of the Camino, and the bonds between pilgrims. Ponte de Lima is portrayed as an essential stop along the route, with the Roman bridge presented as one of its most iconic symbols.
Luís Ferreira discovered the Camino de Santiago in 2012 and has since walked it more than twenty times. A Camino enthusiast, he attended courses on this subject at the University of Santiago de Compostela and, over more than a decade, published several novels connected to the Camino. He is considered the leading national reference in fiction focused on this subject and has received several tributes in Galicia and Portugal.
