The Municipality wants to raise awareness of the Route, the surrounding communities, as well as their heritage and the region&#8217;s products. Since 2024, around 500 pilgrims have already traveled this route, on foot and by bicycle.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The itinerary recreates an episode more than five centuries old: the crossing through Abreiro of the entourage (40 companions and 52 horses) of Leon de Rosmithal, baron of Blatna, in the summer of 1466, bound for Santiago de Compostela. The current path of the Route, reconstructed by Orlando Fernandes and Francisco Machado, is based on the chronicle of that journey.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Participants <strong>set off at 9:00 a.m. from Abreiro Bridge<\/strong> for a <strong>9.4-kilometer stretch of moderate difficulty<\/strong> through Abreiro, Quatro Caminhos and Milhais.
