{"id":5508,"date":"2026-02-17T15:01:35","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T15:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vialusitana.org\/caminho-leon-de-rosmithal-avanca-para-certificacao\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T16:33:48","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T16:33:48","slug":"leon-de-rosmithal-route-moves-toward-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vialusitana.org\/en\/leon-de-rosmithal-route-moves-toward-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"Leon de Rosmithal Route moves toward certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"57\" data-end=\"308\">The Portuguese Route of Leon de Rosmithal took another step toward certification at <strong>a meeting held yesterday, February 16, between the consortium led by P\u00f3voa de Lanhoso City Council and the entities involved in assessing the application<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"310\" data-end=\"784\">Taking part in the online session were Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture F\u00e1tima Moreira, accompanied by municipal technicians Orlando Fernandes and Francisco Machado, as well as representatives of <em data-start=\"513\" data-end=\"562\">Comiss\u00e3o de Certifica\u00e7\u00e3o do Patrim\u00f3nio Cultural<\/em>, I.P. (Certification Committee of Cultural Heritage, P.A.), <em data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"644\">Turismo de Portugal<\/em>, I.P. (Tourism of Portugal, P.A.), and the <em data-start=\"688\" data-end=\"733\">Federa\u00e7\u00e3o Portuguesa do Caminho de Santiago<\/em> (Portuguese Federation of the Camino de Santiago).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"786\" data-end=\"1287\">The meeting served to <strong>present the historical background of the route and an update on the work already carried out, including waymarking currently underway<\/strong> in several municipalities. The consortium\u2019s objectives were also presented, focused on obtaining certification, whose benefits include recognition of the public interest of the itineraries, the right to use the \u201cCaminho de Santiago Certificado\u201d (Certified Camino de Santiago) mark, and access to funding for safeguarding and enhancing the route.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1289\" data-end=\"1830\">The Certification Committee indicated the steps required to prepare the dossier needed to submit the application, <strong>acknowledged the work already carried out by the 12 municipalities involved, and considered the applicable criteria feasible<\/strong>. The <em data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1578\">Federa\u00e7\u00e3o Portuguesa do Caminho de Santiago<\/em>, which has been part of the consortium since March 20, 2024, expressed full willingness to collaborate and stated that the route meets the conditions for certification, highlighting the volume of historical and logistical information already compiled.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1832\" data-end=\"2275\">It was decided that<strong> waymarking along the 260 kilometers will continue in parallel with the organization and systematization of the documentation required to formalize the application<\/strong>. The itinerary links Freixo de Espada \u00e0 Cinta to Braga and passes through P\u00f3voa de Lanhoso, Vieira do Minho, Vila Flor, Mur\u00e7a, Alij\u00f3, Braga, Cabeceiras de Basto, Ribeira de Pena, Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Mirandela, Torre de Moncorvo, and Freixo de Espada \u00e0 Cinta.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2277\" data-end=\"2757\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">At the meeting it was also made known that the municipal executive had approved, at a City Council meeting, the regulations governing the \u201c<em data-start=\"2416\" data-end=\"2441\">Peregrina\u00e7\u00e3o por Etapas<\/em>\u201d (Staged Pilgrimage) for this route.
