It was recently recognized by the European Parliament, which designated the Camino as the <strong>\u201cFirst European Cultural Itinerary,\u201d<\/strong> and by UNESCO, which consecrated it <strong>World Heritage<\/strong>. The discovery of the tomb of the Apostle Santiago, son of Zebedee and brother of John the Evangelist, transformed the small Roman settlement, which had become a necropolis through centuries of obscurity.
